World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade
Item upgrade allows players to increase the level of equippable weapons and armor. This boosts the effectiveness of the equipment, and also sometimes adding buffs or the rerolling of an affix.

Cost
When a player upgrades an item, they have to spend Gold to upgrade the item. The cost of upgrading an item varies based on the current level of the item and the type of upgrade. Upgrades to weapons are typically cheaper than upgrades to armor since weapons have less requirements. The amount of Gold required increases when the item is upgraded to the next level.
Upgraded items also come with enhanced stats that can boost its performance in various ways. This could include increasing the power of its attack, critical strike chance, or damage per second. In addition an upgraded item might be able to provide extra buffs for its equipped unit. These upgrades can be used to boost the overall power of a group or individual unit, and could be a major influence on the gameplay.
Items can be upgraded at any NPC that is an upgrader in the game. These NPCs are located in major questing areas or capital cities. Players can also find upgraders in dungeons that have high-level bosses, and by talking to the NPCs in their faction's garrisons.

Players can also recover upgraded items by using an Upgrade extractor, or salvage using a salvage of a higher tier kit. Glyphs, which are placed in gathering tools, can be freely swapped out without restrictions.
By selecting the item and pressing the green button, which has an arrow that rerolls, a player can reroll it into another upgradeable item. This will change the layout and let players select up to six items for "recycling". The item that is recycled can be exchanged for an item at level 1 of the same kind. Recycled items don't keep their current level or amount of resources used to upgrade them.
The maximum level of upgrade for an item is determined by the item's level and its quality.
